Hi Tanja, it sounds like you have some questions about adding applique to your daughter’s overskirt. These are our suggestions.
When sewing the strips onto the overskirt, you should sew through all layers of tulle to ensure that the applique is securely attached. As for covering the satin belt in applique, it’s hard to say without seeing the dress, but it’s possible that it could be too much if there is already a lot of sparkle and embellishment on the dress.

As for shortening the overskirt, it may be possible to do it yourself if you have some sewing skills. However, if you are unsure, it’s always best to take it to a professional seamstress to avoid any mistakes.

Hi my daughter has a plain sparkle (2nd layer) overskirt..n wants to put some applique on we found a couple of long thin strips left over from the dress fabric …when sewing them on do u sew through all 6 layers of tulle or just the top 2 layers …my daughter now tells me she wants the satin belt off the overskirt covered in applique u think ok or will it be too much
I think the overskirt is too long will it be easy to shorten myself or u think with ur veil being chaple length n the overskirt being cathedral length ok the bottom of the veil is also sparkle n has matching applique on the bottom
